Exwyfe – Butter With this record Exwyfe wanted to give shape to a constant malaise, to a dissatisfaction that, in his opinion, is a bit at the basis of many of the inhabitants of Milan. Despite being so in love with the city, sometimes we realize that it’s so far from our true dreams. Many live a collective imagination made up of beauty and fiction, - nostalgia for a status they have never lived - a kind of American dream made up of social media. We look at a shred of skyline that we are slowly building and we daydream of Manhattan. We close our eyes and we feel a bit there. This is why, in the new Italian music generation many models from overseas are concentrated without anyone actually managing to bring them back with the same style. The means are lacking, that type of culture is not ours and has a different depth and flavor. From the incurable void left by this absence Exwyfe have brought out BUTTER, a record which, despite the foreign influences, is aware of having its own personal attitude. They talk about sex and feelings in this record, but with the coldness of the ones aware that in our era everything is different and unmanageable. Love already becomes inconstancy, and the desire to escape from promises. They talk about friends who fled abroad to pursue the need for possibilities. In the record they mention our society’s weakness and our country that lets itself be duped. "We don't like to make controversy or politics in a blatant way. We don't know how to write things in a didactic way, especially when it comes to lyrics. Writing in English is a filter that distances me so much from concreteness. I am annoyed with clichés, simple concepts that everyone takes for granted without worrying about what they actually are. I used to paint moods, and so I try to do the same when I sing and write. I use a code. I can pull you in or not, it's up to you to read and listen. It takes irony, bitterness and fear, these things season everything, they give it thickness even if they make it unhealthy ... a bit like butter does, right?"
